medical product commercial – Pearls & Dents toothpaste
Medical product commercial explaining effectiveness in a stylized look
Together with my longtime contractor for medical visualizations, interactive-systems mbh in Berlin, I worked on a medical product commercial for the exclusive prophylactic toothpaste Pearls & Dents, commissioned by the production agency x-act Agentur GmbH. The internet spot explains the effectiveness of the advertised product using a clear and stylized visual approach.
Simulation overkill
The challenge with showing the mode of operation of the toothpaste was, everything interdepends with everything: the movements of the toothbrush deform the bristles on the teeth, which in turn foam up the toothpaste, which includes all these little spheres, that break off the dirt in the interdental spaces.
That meant required simulation of strands, fluid, particles and dynamic vertex coloring to control the dirt amount, all dependent on the movement of the brush. Thankfully the now unfortunately discontinued software Autodesk Softimage with its fantastic ICE-simulation system was up to the task.
Client very happy
With the compositing and added pack-shot done by the capable artists employed by my contractor, the client x-act was highly pleased.
I definitely had a lot of fun, developing a working solution for this interesting problem!
