vehicle 3D asset extension – NXP E-Cockpit
Extending an automotive 3D asset for multi-display cockpit design
For the NXP E-Cockpit project, I was responsible for extending an existing automotive 3D model to accommodate a large number of additional displays. This 3d asset extension required careful remodeling of the vehicle’s interior geometry to ensure accurate proportions, clean topology, and seamless integration of the new screen elements.

With all the displays integrated and a clean UV layout done, my client could easily replace the altered parts of the geometry in his asset and assign his produced content to the 13 displays.

Retopo
Since the provided 3d-model did not feature the required topology for larger edits, some parts of the car, especially the front- and middle panel, required some additional work.
As many times before, Autodesk Maya ‘s retopo tools performed very well in quickly rebuilding the disputed parts until they had the required edge-flow to be able to integrate the screens.
