3D asset creation for TV commercial and social media spots
For a new ADAC home insurance policy, my client was tasked with the production of a series of VFX-heavy animations to support the campaign. This included everything from TV commercial, social media spots and DOOH advertisements to a 3D display featuring a large CGI cockroach at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin. Since the only actual footage shot was the sofa with the actors, I supported aixsponza with the texturing and 3D asset creation of the extensive digital environment.
Although existing geometry could be used for the living room shelf in the background, shaders and textures had to be created according to the clients expectations. After checking and editing the UV-maps of the pre-existing model, I could quickly solve that task thanks to Adobe Substance and my thoroughly organised material library.
I also used the texture painter to quickly generate simple black and white masks, that could be used at render time to achieve a wetness effect for all the objects affected by the flooded kitchen.
The social media spot (below) in the style of the legendary program Die Sendung mit der Maus (The Show with the Mouse) shows an additional swarm of animated cockroaches that have invaded the digital set. I helped with the texturing of the insects and made sure, that the kitchen table could hold up the visual expectations for the close-up shot by adding a wooden structure and some stains and scratches for more realism.
